One blade is not like the other

The diversity of specifications for the doctor blades is as wide as the Clouth range of doctor blades. The material can differ, as well as the thickness, length and even the design. Depending on the holder into which the blade is inserted, it may have to be provided with a groove, a ridge or a rivet. This is all defined in a technical drawing, as this is also required for internal production processes. The huge benefit: a drawing is worth 1000 words.

A detailed eye for everything

Sandra Führer has been supporting our design team with a high degree of technical understanding and very good spatial awareness for more than 17 years. Our doctor blades are also visualised in accordance with standards for more complex developments there. She reports on her beginnings and development at Clouth in an exciting interview.

Her route to Clouth

“During my short time in an engineering company, I was approached by a former colleague from my old company and asked whether I would like to apply to Clouth. There was an open position as a draughtsperson. So I applied.”, she says with a smile. Obviously successfully, as Sandra Führer started at Joh. Clouth in Hückeswagen on 01/06/2004 and is still working in the design department to this day.

“My work gives me a great deal of freedom to make decisions, I like that!” She adds: “I like that Clouth is a modern but yet familiar company.”

Clouth has evolved over time

“Clouth has grown, especially over the last few years and, as part of this, has adjusted its structures again and made itself more modern and digital. I particularly like the path taken towards digitisation. It makes work so much easier!”. Sandra Führer works as a product designer with programs for 2D and 3D visualisation, as the days of drawings with paper an ink are long past.

“The biggest change for me is that the individual, large departments have been turned into several smaller ones.”. She remembers the outings and parties with the technical department fondly. “But the team outings that we went on with colleagues from different departments in the summer of 2018 were great”, she says about the events to which all employees from the Hückeswagen location were invited.

We would like to thank Sandra Führer for this interesting interview. In the next issue of our series, two long-serving employees will speak together.
